Absolut Seabreeze.  back
ABSOLUT SEABREEZE is a "new" ad on page 9 of the 7/98 issue of Frank mag (UK). I say "new" because it looks like the Steve Bronstein photo used for the 1995 ads ABSOLUT HAMPTONS and ABSOLUT NANTUCKET, and probably for the ABSOLUT FIRE ISLAND ad, too (even though I haven't seen that one yet). "Seabreeze" shows an Absolut bottle shaped wooden boardwalk stretching up the sand dunes, heading toward the blue sea waters lapping up on the beach, with the dune grasses moving gently in the breeze. At the bottom of the ad, under the white Absolut Seabreeze logo, is written:
IF IT'S NOT ABSOLUT, IT'S NOT A SEABREEZE. INSIST ON ABSOLUT. THERE IS NO PURER VODKA. DRINK IT OVER ICE, THREE PARTS CRANBERRY JUICE, ONE PART GRAPEFRUIT JUICE. IT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY.
The only thing they left out was the one and one-half parts Absolut Vodka!!!
As with all British ads, it has TBWA and the traditional info up the left border and it mentions copyright dates of 1995 (for Hamptons, Nantucket, etc.) and 1998 (for Seabreeze). I wonder if this photo has been used for any other Absolut ads? Have a great summer!
